How I got here.
I feel like I have always had a business, but it all became serious when it stopped being a side hustle. I stepped away from a safe government education job, into my very own bricks and mortar psychology practice. And I loved it. I truly do love business.
Early on, being busy felt like it meant I was successful. From the outside I spent hours at the practice, expanded my team and had a full case load. In the background, it wasn't all roses. Issues with a partnership, staff leaving to have babies... it really was a roller coaster. For a while I stepped back into paid employment, which felt great at first, but to be honest, working for someone else just wasn't for me
So I opened another practice, from scratch.
But this time it didn't feel the same. Life was different. Peri had hit. I was different. I didn't just want to be busy. I didn't want my life to revolve around the business. I wanted more.
I wanted more time, I wanted more freedom but I knew the answer wasn't to simply work harder.
Deep down I knew that I needed to work smarter, differently. I suspected it was a mindset thing that was getting in my way, and lucky for me, two decades working in the psychology space allowed me to explore my barriers, taking time to pivot, and to build forward.
